Getting your kids started early into athletics pays off huge throughout the rest of their lives. Statistics show that when kids are physically active early they stay active later and generally lead healthier, happier lives.
We start kids early at azjrgolf. We will start with the FUNdamentals. We will start to teach them to become good athletes while introducing them to golf in a fun age appropriate manner. We will be using Titleist Performance Institute's CYCLONE system. Like has been stated many times on this website, this is not your ordinary junior program. We will not be lining up on the range and hit ball after ball for an hour. Usually after 10 minutes the kid is bored, after 15 minutes the child is bored and doesn't like me for making him continue, and you for bringing him to the golf course. They will not want to come back and do it again.
We will be doing stations that last around 5 to 10 minutes. For example, some of the things we will do during the clinic will be:
Most of the activities listed above make your child a better athlete and in the long run lets them have a great chance at becoming an awesome golfer. It is all a process, golf is a LATE DEVELOPMENT SPORT. It is not like gymnastics, where sometime the best in the world are 12 or 14.
This TPI (Titleist Performance Institute) program takes a commitment from the parents. Your child will become a good athlete, and a great golfer. It is not going to happen over night. But your child will enjoy it and make it a game of a lifetime. And isn't that all we can ask for?
A specific and well-planned practice, training, competition and recovery regime will ensure optimum development throughout an athlete’s career. Ultimately, sustained success comes from training and performing well over the long-term rather than winning in the short-term. There is no short-cut to success in athletic preparation. Over-emphasizing competition in the early phases of training will always cause shortcomings in athletic abilities later in an athlete’s career.
Our Program integrates these principals, we develop young athletes with two training zones, the S.M.A.S.H. Zone for ages 5-9 year olds and the Cyclone Zone for 10-15 year olds. Each zones has individual specific actions to train and develop all athletic movement and then golf skills. S.M.A.S.H. stands for : S – Stability
M – Mobility
A – ABC's (A = Agility; B = Balance; C = Coordination)
S – Sports skills
H – Hone your golf skills
This group has mastered most fundamentals and wishes to challenge themselves by playing tournaments. This group is by invitation only. If you think your child is ready for this group, please email Shane or speak to him in person. This group meets twice a week, focusing on skills that will lower their tournament scores. Once a week we will be on the course for the clinic.
